Jews and Christians, a shared expectation? (11 - 18 august 2019)
A study-pilgrimage around the feast of the Assumption
We invite you to an oasis of study at the heart of Jerusalem, to come and meditate on the mystery of Messianic expectation, God’s promises and the eternal hope of Jews and Christians. We invite you to ponder the eternal covenant of God in light of the Church’s teachings in its love and respect for the Jewish tradition. Through mornings of study, small groups, excusions to Holy Sites, meetings and presentations, we will be immersed in Biblical studies, Jewish and Christian liturgy, traditions both ancient and new in order to better understand the abiding hope of the two sibling religions.
Enter into the new vision that the Church wishes to have for the people from which she has originated, this people of Israel of which the covenant has “never been revoked” (Pope John-Paul II).
This study session is open to all those who would like to enrich their Christian faith through the knowledge of Judaism.
Classes are accessible to all levels of proficiency.
In company with the Prophets and the same Apostle, the Church awaits that day, known to God alone, on which all peoples will address the Lord in a single voice and "serve him shoulder to shoulder"
Zephaniah 3:9
A week of calm study at the beautiful center of Jerusalem
You will be welcomed at the beautiful Pontifical Biblical Institute - facing the walls of the Old City. Most of the classes will be held here as well.

Meeting with an invited guest
An overnight excursion to Nazareth is planned: the Church of the Annunciation, Mary’s well, Jesus’ synagogue and Cana of Galilee. If possible, we will also experience the 9th of Av - the Jewish day of mourning for the destruction of the Temple.
Since the spiritual patrimony common to Christians and Jews is thus so great, this sacred synod wants to foster and recommend that mutual understanding and respect which is the fruit, above all, of biblical and theological studies as well as of fraternal dialogues.
